BHC: We support Minister Tacheva's initiative and want to take part in it

Sofia, 04 October 2007 – On 4 October 2007 the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee (BHC) sent a letter to Justice Minister Miglena Tacheva, which welcomes the initiative to include NGOs in the new consultation procedure for nominating candidates for Bulgarian judge at the European Court of Human Rights. The BHC will support this initiative publicly and with experts.

The BHC states its desire to take part in the meeting of the Public Council of NGOs scheduled for 8 October 2007 and in the commission which will be engaged in the selection of nominees for judges from all candidates. The committee proposes that a public discussion of all candidates is held among civil organisations, journalists and legal practitioners.
