Racist behaviour is unacceptable in united Europe

After becoming acquainted with the racist statements of the Ataka MP and European Parliament observer Mr. Dimitar Stoyanov addressed to the Hungarian MEP Livia Yaroka, the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee:

1. Finds the behaviour of Dimitar Stoyanov as highly unacceptable for a citizen, a Bulgarian Member of Parliament and a European Parliament observer.
2. Calls on Mr. Stoyanov to apologize for his racist behaviour publicly, rather than in private electronic mail correspondence.
3. Insists that the Ataka Party, of which Mr. Stoyanov is Deputy Chair, publicly and categorically condemns his statements.
4. Calls on the Bulgarian Parliament to withdraw Mr. Stoyanov from his position of European Parliament observer as a person who disgraces Bulgaria before the European Union and as such is not fit to represent it in the European Parliament.
